Veepstakes Websites
It’s just about time for our intrepid presidential candidates to announce their Vice Presidential running mates!
I thought I’d scour the Internet to see if any domains pop up that would offer a clue ahead of the big Veepstakes news, which is probably only two days away.
I used whois.com to check the ownership of domains and then looked at the websites (if they existed) that go with them.
Here is what I found, which is pretty amusing:
First, we’ll look at a Trump/Pence ticket.
trumppence.com: This belongs to Perfect Privacy in Jacksonville, FL.
trumppence2016.com: This belongs to Shannon Burchett in Plano, TX.
Trump/Gingrich:
trumpgingrich.com: This belongs to Samuel Dreeben of Kerrville, TX.
trumpgingrich2016.com: This belongs to Chris Larsin of Washington, DC and does go to an actual site. See pic.
Trump/Christie:
trumpchristie.com: Domains By Proxy. But by viewing the source code, there is a telephone number for anyone interested in buying it, and a link to nowhere for LongShoreEstates.
trumpchristie2016.com: This belongs to DCB Enterprises in Morrisville, PA.
Clinton/Castro:
clintoncastro.com: This belongs to Jonathan Walczak of Cary, NC. This guy really thought ahead! He purchased this domain and put up a letter to Sec. Clinton about student loan debt. See the pic.
clintoncastro2016: This is another DomainByProxy. The link goes to Ebay. If Hillary wants it, it can be had for $3,749.
clintonperez.com: Proxy.
clintonperez2016.com: This is owned by Nima Novin of Long Beach, CA.
clintonstavridis.com: This is owned by Jonathan Barnes of Washington, DC, but only since yesterday, July 12. It redirects to codepink.org, which is some kind of political action group or something. Their campaign tag is “stavridis.”
clintonstavridis2016.com: Proxy. See above: on sale on Ebay for $3,749.
So, based on that, all I can conclude is I have no idea who will be picked based on this hokey research. But, if I had a choice I would vote for … Jonathan Walczak of Cary, NC! Wooooo! He wins the prize for most thoughtful domain and I think Hillary should pick him. Hmm, let’s see….
clintonwalczak.com: Domain is available!
